Have you been wondering what I've been doing all winter?

Well, rather than shooting pictures, I've been shooting video.

Here's some of my latest work.

Studio 5's New Show Open

Every frame of video in the new open was shot by me!

But to be honest, I didn't shoot the video thinking it would be used in the open. I shot it for some Studio 5 promos I made.  So actually it was a nice surprise to see my work featured every morning at 11 a.m. on KSL Channel 5!

White Coat Promo
Just about everyone who lives in Utah knows about the "white coat".
KSL's chief meterologist Kevin Eubank wears a white coat during his forecasts ONLY when it's about to snow.
It's a tradition passed on by his father, Mark Eubank, when he used to be the chief meterologist at KSL.
So it's a family tradition, but also a decades-old Utah tradition we all look forward too.

What's cool about this promo is that it features my nephews, Milo and Sawyer, and my niece Gemma!
They were such good sports and loved throwing the feathers everywhere!
P.S. It took FOREVER to clean up and I'm pretty sure my sister-in-law is still finding feathers in her house.
P.P.S. Pause the promo 10 seconds in and you'll see my camio (in chalk on the closet doors.)

Emmy Promo
How often do you get to hold a real Emmy??

This is just a bit of what I've been working on lately.

I'll post more soon, I just have to upload them to YouTube first.

Have you ever been in a breathtaking area like this but your camera just can't capture it all?

I was in a situation like that a few weeks ago, but then I remembered I learned how to take panoramic photos in a photography class once.

This was the first time I was able to put the process into practice, so I'm definitely no expert.

In this amateur tutorial we're going to put this panorama together:

This was made with a series of images taken while we drove the Nebo Loop in Payson, Utah.

This was the prettiest lookout spot because you could see all the way to Utah Lake.

That's my husband and my dog walking in the middle.

Step 1: Focus on a point far away, then switch your lens to manual focus.  You don't want your camera to be focusing every time you take a picture, or the panorama won't work.

Then, before you start taking pictures, take a picture of your hand, like this.

Step 4: When you get back to your computer, open Adobe Bridge and select all your images (shift-click or ctrl-click to select more than one image).  My pan was really long, so I have 20 images in my series.

Step 6: The following dialogue box will open. Auto layout will work for most pans. Make sure "Blend Images Together" and "Vignette Removal" are checked. Click okay.

Step 7: Be patient while Photoshop opens and works its magic.  Photoshop will create a new document with as many layers as there are images in your series.

The image will look something like this:

(I guess I wasn't as straight as I originally thought.)

Step 8: Crop the image.

Hit save and you're done!  My picture required a bit more Photoshopping because of my unsteady hand, but you get the idea.

This is baby Adalyn, my friend Ashley's two-week-old daughter.

You may remember when I took Ashley's maternity photos.

I was super-excited for this shoot for one simple reason.

The ROMPER.

You see, I bought the adorable romper for this shoot before Adalyn was even born!

Two baby shower gifts in one!

These are my favorite pictures from the photo shoot.

Thanks Ashley for letting me dress and manhandle your baby!

This was my first segment on Studio 5 as a "professional photographer".
Very exciting.

Here's a rundown of the five products I found:

1. Shutterbuddies -Found these babies on Pinterest. These adorable little creatures go over the lens on your SLR camera and attract the eyes of busy little kids. And just in case you're still having trouble getting their attention, each one also has a squeaker. Shutterbuddies are handmade and sold by at Utah mom at her Etsy store.
